Universe Context & Lore

Set in a dystopian future, the inciting incident of the film's universe is a devastating nuclear catastrophe in Los Angeles, triggered by an AI system created by the U.S. government to protect its citizens. In response, the West aggressively outlawed and hunted down all artificial intelligence.

However, the global East—rebranded as "New Asia"—refused to exterminate their robotic counterparts, embracing AI and granting them equal standing in society. This ideological fracture sparked a brutal, decades-long global war. To gain the upper hand, the West constructed the USS NOMAD (North American Orbital Mobile Aerospace Defense), a trillion-dollar orbital space station capable of launching devastating strikes anywhere on the globe, relentlessly hunting the elusive AI architect known only as "Nirmata" (The Creator).

The Mission: Hunt Down The Creator

The story follows the journey of Joshua (portrayed by John David Washington), a bereaved widower and a hardened ex-special forces agent. Joshua is recruited for a formidable task: infiltrate New Asia and track down the Creator—the enigmatic entity responsible for advancing AI evolution and developing a mysterious new weapon.

As Joshua and his elite strike team penetrate enemy lines, they stumble upon a terrifying revelation. The world-ending weapon capable of finally terminating the USS NOMAD and ending the AI-human war isn't a bomb or a missile. It is a seemingly unassuming mechanical child named Alfie (played brilliantly by Madeleine Yuna Voyles).

Alfie's innocent appearance conceals an extraordinary, world-altering power. Her existence forces Joshua into a crisis of conscience, prompting profound introspection on the true essence of "being alive," the definition of humanity, and the tragic consequences of prejudice.
